Henry Cavill Joins Rita Ora, Sterling K. Brown in "Voltron" Live-Action Film; "Highlander" Role Revealed

While Henry Cavill's departure from Netflix's "The Witcher" was met with disappointment, fans remain excited about his confirmed role in the "Highlander" reboot, announced in 2021, and his recent casting in the live-action "Voltron" film.

New details have also emerged regarding the "Voltron" live-action movie. Reports indicate that the film, adapted from the classic mecha anime, will feature Henry Cavill and Daniel Quinn-Toye as co-stars. The newly announced cast members include:

Sterling K. Brown, known for "Black Panther" and "The Predator"; acclaimed British singer Rita Ora; and John Kim from "9-1-1."

As for the "Highlander" reboot, while no further cast announcements have been made, director Chad Stahelski recently revealed in an interview with The Direct that Henry Cavill will portray a master swordsman who has lived for over 500 years, acquiring various martial arts skills.

"Our story will begin in the early 16th-century Scottish Highlands and extend to modern-day New York and Hong Kong. We want to see how that develops, and the film will not only have more action but also a unique character that few can portray," Stahelski said.

"Additionally, in some ways, this film is also a love story, but not the kind most audiences might expect. I learned a different storytelling approach while making 'John Wick,' so this time we plan to create a completely different mythological narrative," he added.

Although Director Stahelski did not specify the name of Cavill's character, given the character's 500-plus-year lifespan, it is possible he will play Connor MacLeod. Christopher Lambert famously portrayed this role in the 1986 original film.

The "Voltron" live-action film is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, known for "Red Notice." Thurber co-wrote the screenplay with Ellen Shanman.
