Japan's biggest doujin event, Comic Market (Comiket), just wrapped up its C105 run on December 29-30, and it was absolutely packed! This year marked the largest turnout since the pandemic, with insane crowds flooding the venue on both days.
Remember prop-making maestro nalton (@naltonz), the genius behind that incredible Ryujinmaru from "Mashin Hero Wataru" cosplay? Well, he was back at C105, and this time he absolutely crushed it with a custom-built costume of the insect warrior "Cocytus" from "OVERLORD"! The sheer size and imposing presence of it were jaw-dropping, instantly making it one of the convention's biggest highlights.

Cocytus (コキュートス) is an insect warrior from "OVERLORD," also known as the "Freezing Emperor."
Named after the River of Lamentation, one of the five rivers of the underworld in Greek mythology, Cocytus is a colossal bipedal insectoid monster, towering at 250 cm. He sports a tail twice his own height, with sharp, icicle-like spikes jutting from his shoulders and back. His pale blue exoskeleton gleams with a diamond dust-like brilliance, radiating an intimidating, icy chill.

According to nalton, the prop-making wizard, this Cocytus costume was a dream project he'd always wanted to tackle. Given Cocytus's absolutely massive scale, nailing his imposing presence while still making it wearable was no small feat. He spent ages just brainstorming, experimenting with countless methods before finally figuring out a way to make it both accurate and something a human could actually wear. Using a variety of materials, he brought the character to life perfectly, and C105 was its grand debut!

And it wasn't just tough to build; Cocytus's sheer size apparently ate up most of his living space at home!

Getting it to Comiket? He literally needed a truck to haul it there – no way was this thing fitting in a regular car!

Once it's on, it looks absolutely epic! But because it's so massive, it needs an internal metal frame for support. So, not only was it a beast to build, but actually wearing it and moving around is a serious workout.

Unsurprisingly, his appearance at C105 drew massive crowds. He's clearly super proud of this Cocytus cosplay, a labor of love that took over two months to meticulously craft. Being able to show off his passion like this? Pure joy!

Just check it out next to a regular person – that's how you really grasp the sheer, imposing scale of this costume.
And when he gets tired? He can even shed some armor for a cool display!

Even among a crowd of other "OVERLORD" cosplayers, this Cocytus absolutely stole the show.

Seriously, the craftsmanship here is next-level. It's wild to think Cocytus could even be pulled off as a wearable cosplay! If you're as blown away as we are, definitely hit up nalton's X account to feast your eyes on more of his incredible creations.
