Robert Eggers' highly anticipated "Nosferatu," a remake of the classic "Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens," debuted to critical acclaim during the North American Christmas holiday season. The film quickly amassed over $40 million in its opening week, a remarkable achievement for a horror feature with a reported $50 million production budget. However, audiences who saw the film in theaters didn't experience the complete vision, as a longer version is on the horizon.

In a recent interview with Esquire magazine (linked above), Eggers revealed that certain scenes featuring Bill Skarsgård as the enigmatic Count Orlok were regrettably trimmed from the theatrical release to preserve the character's mystique. Fans will, however, get to see these excised moments in a forthcoming extended cut on Blu-ray. While Eggers did not specify the exact runtime of the extended version, Universal and Blu-ray officials have already unveiled the exclusive cover designs for both the standard and 4K Blu-ray editions (pictured below), which explicitly state the inclusion of both the theatrical and extended cuts.

The film's ensemble cast also includes Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Nicholas Hoult, Simon McBurney, Ralph Ineson, Emma Corrin, Willem Dafoe, and Stacy Thunes.

Much like the original film and its source material, Bram Stoker's "Dracula," the new "Nosferatu" is set in 19th-century Germany and centers on an ancient vampire's obsessive infatuation with a young woman.
