Recently, Threads user Murata Shinya (@shinyamurata) shared a truly heartwarming and nostalgic experience: he managed to power on a CRT TV/VCR combo from 1999, and to his utter surprise and delight, it still worked perfectly! This incredible display of durability not only highlighted the robust quality of older products but also struck a chord with countless netizens, stirring up a wave of shared memories and nostalgia.

Murata-san posted three photos showcasing the Panasonic "2-SHOT" CRT TV/VCR. This all-in-one unit, which combined a classic CRT television with a VHS recorder, was a household staple in the late 20th century. Murata-san revealed that after years of sitting idle, the device sprang to life when plugged in. He then popped in an old VHS tape, and it played without a hitch, delivering that signature slightly blurry, wonderfully nostalgic picture quality.
On the screen, vintage news footage flickered, complete with the Japanese TV mascot used by Nippon Television from 1992 to 2012 in the top right corner, perfectly capturing the essence of the Heisei era.

Murata-san exclaimed, "Amazing, Panasonic!" His astonishment and praise for the product's enduring quality resonated deeply with other users. Many chimed in with their own stories, sharing comments like, "Appliances from back then were so durable; my domestic oven still works!" — a testament to the longevity and reliability of old-school electronics.
This heartwarming incident not only brought back fond memories but also prompted modern consumers to reflect on the durability and lasting value of home appliances. Murata-san's post underscored the appreciation for older gadgets, proving that even as time marches on, some devices truly remain "rock solid."
