The first reactions are in for "Wolf Man," the new film from "Upgrade" director Leigh Whannell, which is set to hit North American theaters next Friday. Just like Whannell's previous Universal Monsters hit, "The Invisible Man," the early buzz for "Wolf Man" is overwhelmingly positive, with critics who attended early screenings sharing their thoughts online.

The film is directed by Whannell, who co-wrote the screenplay with his wife, actress Corbett Tuck. The cast includes Christopher Abbott, Julia Garner, Sam Jaeger, Matilda Firth, and Beatriz Romilly.

The official synopsis reads: Blake, a husband and father living in San Francisco, inherits his remote childhood home in rural Oregon after his father goes missing and is presumed dead. With his marriage to his successful and powerful wife, Charlotte, on the verge of collapse, Blake convinces her to take a vacation to his old home with their young daughter, Ginger. But when the family arrives at the farmhouse late at night, they are suddenly attacked by an unseen monster. To escape the danger, they hide inside the farmhouse, sealing all the entrances while the beast lurks outside. As they try to survive the terrifying night, Blake begins to exhibit strange behavior, slowly transforming into an unknown creature. Charlotte is forced to decide: is the horror inside the house more deadly than the danger lurking outside?
