Chiikawa Teams Up with Hiroshima's "Nama Momiji Manju" for Adorable Drawstring Bag Collab!

Illustrator and manga artist Nagano's creation, Chiikawa, has taken the world by storm! With its simple yet utterly adorable art style, it's become a massive hit both in Japan and internationally. Despite only starting in 2020, it quickly swept across the globe, and its unique charm only grew stronger after the TV anime adaptation, making it a beloved phenomenon everywhere.

Today (January 14), it was announced that Chiikawa is teaming up with traditional Japanese confectioner Nishikido for a special collaboration! They're releasing limited-edition packaging for Nishikido's famous "Nama Momiji Manju" (Fresh Momiji Manju), which is now available at Nishikido direct stores and their official online shop.

Shaped like the maple leaf, Hiroshima Prefecture's official tree, "Momiji Manju" is a renowned specialty of Miyajima. Nishikido's "Nama Momiji Manju" (Fresh Momiji Manju) takes this classic and reinvents it as a 'nama-gashi' (fresh confectionary) style treat, boasting an incredibly chewy texture as its signature appeal. The dough is crafted from rice flour milled from Hiroshima-grown white rice, and the fillings come in a delightful variety, including red bean paste, white bean paste, matcha, and cream. It's a beloved souvenir choice for both Japanese and international travelers alike!

The packaging features super adorable illustrations of Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi – just looking at them is enough to brighten your day! The drawstring bag even has intricate character silhouette designs on the back, showing off incredible attention to detail. It's not just perfect as a souvenir or gift; once you've devoured the delicious treats, the drawstring bag can be repurposed for everyday storage, making it both practical and charming!

This special collaboration bag contains two pieces of smooth red bean paste, two pieces of chunky red bean paste, and one piece of matcha filling, all for just 800 yen. So, if you're planning a trip to Japan, keep an eye out for this delightful treat – it's absolutely perfect whether you're gifting it or keeping it for yourself!
