Nintendo Switch 2 Trailer Hides "Mario Kart 9" Tease, Media Suggests Major Changes & New Fun

Nintendo recently dropped its first-ever hardware reveal video for the Nintendo Switch 2, and it seems to have snuck in a glimpse of what looks like a brand-new "Mario Kart" game! This has, naturally, sent the internet into a frenzy. While Nintendo hasn't officially spilled the beans on what exactly was shown, eagle-eyed fans are already spotting some potential game-changers, especially in character designs and track layouts.

The Nintendo Switch 2 hardware reveal video showcased a stunning new track that's a significant departure from previous "Mario Kart" iterations, boasting intricate details and multi-layered environmental effects.

But the real head-turner? Donkey Kong's redesign! Unlike his usual classic look borrowed from other Nintendo titles, this D.K. is way more cartoonish, with exaggerated expressions and a genuinely goofy vibe. This has everyone wondering what other character makeovers might be in store!

Beyond the visuals, the gameplay hints are equally exciting. The video clearly shows 15 characters racing simultaneously on the track – a noticeable bump up from the 12 players in the still-wildly-popular "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe." Some super-sleuths even spotted what looks like starting grid space for up to 24 players at the beginning of the clip, potentially teasing massive multiplayer races in the future!

As for when Nintendo will officially unveil this new title, speculation points to a potential reveal alongside the next-gen Nintendo Switch 2 at a Nintendo Direct event, possibly on April 2, 2025. Of course, we'll have to wait for official confirmation from the Big N!
