The Marvel Cinematic Universe is expanding its "Iron Man" legacy with two upcoming spin-off projects: the "Ironheart" series, set to debut on Disney+ this year, and the "Armor Wars" film, starring James "Rhodey" Rhodes as War Machine. While "Ironheart" is on track, "Armor Wars" has faced a particularly slow development, initially announced in 2020 as a series before transitioning to a feature film. Latest reports suggest the script remains in flux.

According to prominent entertainment scooper Daniel Richtman, who shared insights on his Patreon page today, "Armor Wars" has not been canceled but rather put on hold. Richtman revealed that Marvel Studios has been completely re-evaluating the film's direction, especially after "Secret Invasion"—which featured Rhodey—garnered overwhelmingly negative reviews. The current script is said to be drastically different from previous iterations. Richtman also speculates that "Armor Wars" might not see release until after "Avengers: Secret Wars."
