Last year, at the end of March, the "GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA," home to the life-sized moving Gundam since 2020, closed its doors with a spectacular finale. Crowds gathered for one last pilgrimage, and its epic farewell left many fans deeply moved. Now, the life-sized "RX-78F00/E Gundam" is set to reclaim its glory at the 2025 Osaka Expo Gundam Pavilion.
Recently, Japan's NHK program "Kaitai Oukoku" (Disassembly Kingdom) aired special footage of the life-sized Gundam's dismantling, which briefly made "Gundam Dismantling" a trending topic on X. Amidst this, X user Saku Hobby (@bithky2) shared a short "Gunpla Disassembly" video that unexpectedly went viral.

The video stars the RG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.2.0. Instead of the usual build-up from the feet, the animation plays in reverse, showing the model gradually disappearing, starting from its arms and head. Ultimately, the entire model dissolves into nothingness, evoking a subtle melancholy that's surprisingly captivating.
But here's the kicker: it's actually the creator's original "Gunpla Auto-Assembly Stop-Motion" played in reverse, transforming it into a mesmerizing disassembly sequence.
The video has garnered immense praise, with many netizens exclaiming, "I could seriously watch this all day!" and "Just imagining the time and effort behind this 30-second clip fills me with respect."
