A recent post on Twitter (now X) has sparked a lively discussion after a netizen used Google Translate to convert the four-character idiom "Meikyo Shisui" into English, with hilariously baffling results. The post quickly racked up over 50,000 likes and ignited a massive conversation.

The post came from X user Nobu@Mash (@kino31100991), who uploaded an image showing Google Translate's English rendition: "Meikyo water stop." This literal translation left netizens surprised and confused, with many exclaiming, "What kind of weird, cringey translation is this?"

"Meikyo Shisui" originally means "a clear and tranquil mind, free from worldly thoughts." It's also famously associated with the classic anime "Mobile Fighter G Gundam" (機動武闘伝Gガンダム, often shortened to "G Gundam"). However, Google Translate's result clearly failed to accurately convey its meaning, instead turning into a phrase that sounds both stiff and utterly bizarre.
Naturally, other netizens jumped in, trying out different idioms and sharing their own hilarious translation fails, keeping the conversation buzzing. We even gave it a shot ourselves, trying both Japanese-to-English and Traditional Chinese-to-English translations on Google Translate. The Japanese-to-English result mirrored the original post: "Meikyo water stop." But the Traditional Chinese-to-English version? That one gave us "Mirror Shisui" LOL.

While Google Translate often struggles with idioms, this particular "Meikyo water stop" gem, with its uniquely awkward vibe, definitely sparked a wave of joyful discussion.
