JAL Unveils "Gundam JET" for Osaka Expo! Special Livery Takes Flight on Domestic Routes This March

The "2025 Osaka-Kansai World Expo," set to kick off in April 2025, is shaping up to be a monumental event for Japan. Bandai Namco is even hyping up its "Gundam Pavilion," which will feature a life-sized 'RX-78F00/E Gundam' – talk about a showstopper!

Today (Feb 13), Bandai Namco dropped the news: they're teaming up with Japan Airlines (JAL) for the "JAL × GUNDAM FLY TO THE FUTURE PROJECT" collaboration. And the star of the show? A specially-liveried "JAL Gundam JET" that's set to take to the skies starting March 3!

The "JAL Gundam JET" boasts a special livery inspired by the "RX-78F00/E Gundam (EX-001 Lihua Equipment)" from the Gundam NEXT FUTURE Pavilion. It also features Myaku-Myaku, the official mascot of the Osaka-Kansai Expo. These exclusive elements will adorn the aircraft, making it a truly unique commemorative plane.

The aircraft will be a JAL Boeing 737-800, primarily operating on domestic routes within Japan. Detailed flight information and schedules will be announced on JAL's official website.

Beyond the themed aircraft, JAL will also roll out travel packages to Kansai from across Japan during the Expo period, with sales expected to begin in March. These packages include:

1. JAL flights from various Japanese cities to Osaka-Kansai
2. Accommodation in the Kansai region
3. A JAL-exclusive "Osaka-Kansai Expo Commemorative Gundam Model"

This specially produced 1/144 RX-78F00/E Gundam faithfully recreates the Gundam from the Expo exhibit and comes with JAL-exclusive decals. Its packaging will also incorporate the "JAL Gundam JET" visual elements, boosting its collector's appeal!

In addition to the travel packages, JAL will offer JAL original-color Gundam models for sale via online duty-free shopping during the Expo, available in limited quantities. Gundam fans won't want to miss this chance to add them to their collection!

The Osaka World Expo runs from April 13 to October 13, 2025. So, if you're a fan, you might want to start planning your pilgrimage now!
