TYPE-MOON's mobile game, Fate/Grand Order, affectionately dubbed a "cosmic god game" by players, is celebrating its 9th anniversary! Its consistent top-ranking performance on revenue charts speaks volumes about its undeniable charm.
Previously announced at "FGO Fes. 2024," the "Fate/Grand Order Ukiyo-e Woodblock Print" project revealed four stunning collectible prints. Now, a new masterpiece has been unveiled: a breathtaking "Pretender/Oberon Vortigern" Ukiyo-e print, crafted by a collective of Japan's finest artisans. Priced at 69,300 JPY and limited to just 300 pieces, pre-orders are now open.

Pretender/Oberon Vortigern is known as the terminal device that cursed the world in the Fairy Country Britain, later summoned by Chaldea as a Pretender-class Servant. While an ancient fairy from the British Isles, he strongly embodies the characteristics of the Fairy King from Shakespeare's play, "A Midsummer Night's Dream."
When he first debuted in the game, his design by manga artist Chika Umino (known for "Honey and Clover" and "March Comes in Like a Lion") sparked widespread discussion due to its distinct style compared to FGO's overall aesthetic. However, his dark, bob-cut, and chaotic attributes quickly won over players, even leading to a popular swimsuit version later on.

This new woodblock print depicts "Pretender/Oberon Vortigern" standing amidst a mysterious forest. Fairies have historically been portrayed among branches and in woodlands, and this piece continues that tradition, placing Oberon within an eerie forest. Furthermore, the clever use of color and composition evokes the profound imagery of "Naraku" (the abyss).
The artwork draws inspiration from classic Ukiyo-e masters such as Ogata Gekko's "Kagoshima-ken Jusanjō Seishi Makitabako" and Utagawa Kunisada's "Tengu to Karasu Tengu." Through traditional Ukiyo-e techniques, it captures the eerie yet captivating essence of "Dark Oberon," creating a powerful sense of fantasy and mysterious atmosphere.

The "Pretender/Oberon Vortigern" Ukiyo-e woodblock print is Ōban size (33.8cm × 23.4cm without frame). It's meticulously crafted using the Edo-era traditional hand-carved and hand-printed woodblock techniques, with each piece brought to life by master Ukiyo-e artisans. The paper itself is the highest-grade "Echizen Kizuki Hōsho," made by Living National Treasure Ichibei Iwano, ensuring rich layering and vibrant color expression that perfectly captures the character's charm.
Each purchase also includes a specially designed, high-quality frame, allowing collectors to immediately display and fully appreciate this work of art.
