Six years have flown by since Mahershala Ali was announced as the MCU's "Blade" at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019. In that time, the "Blade" solo film reboot has cycled through countless directors and writers, and the director's chair remains conspicuously empty. However, Bassam Tariq (pictured below), who was originally tapped to helm the new "Blade," has already made plans to reunite with Ali on a different project.

Deadline exclusively reported today that Ali has signed on to star in Tariq's next film, "Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother," which he will also write, direct, and produce. The plot details are still under wraps, with Orion Pictures involved in the production and Amazon and MGM handling distribution. While a start date has not yet been set, it is highly probable that this project will commence before "Blade."
Ali's next big screen appearance will be in the highly anticipated sequel "Jurassic World: Rebirth," which is scheduled for a North American release on July 2, 2025.
