Japanese Netizen Scores Legendary, Ultra-Rare Ultraman VHS for Just 100 Yen at HARD·OFF!

Talk about a lucky find! A Japanese netizen recently stumbled upon an almost-extinct VHS tape at the popular second-hand chain HARD·OFF, priced at an unbelievable 100 yen. This jaw-dropping discovery instantly blew up online, with many exclaiming, "No way, that's insane!"

The lucky treasure hunter is X (Twitter) user Afghan Aviation Sagami (@AviationSagami). While browsing the used goods section at HARD·OFF, they spotted a VHS tape that, upon closer inspection, turned out to be "The 6 Ultra Brothers vs. the Monster Army" (ウルトラ6兄弟VS怪獣軍団), a film released way back in 1974. They were so stunned, they had to double-check three times!

"The 6 Ultra Brothers vs. the Monster Army" was a unique 1974 co-production between Japan's Tsuburaya Productions and Thailand's Chaiyo Productions Co. Ltd.

This film stands out from typical "Ultraman" entries. Set in drought-stricken Thailand, the story centers on a Thai boy named Ho Jiang, who is tragically shot while trying to stop Buddha statue thieves. He's then resurrected by the Mother of Ultra and transforms into Hanuman, the divine ape from Indian mythology. What follows is a wild ride as Hanuman dispenses justice, leading to a plot that truly goes beyond anything viewers might expect from the Ultraman universe.

While technically part of the "Ultraman" series, the Ultra Brothers don't even show up until the latter half of the film; the entire first act is all about Hanuman. Plus, due to persistent copyright issues, this movie has never seen an official DVD or streaming release, making existing VHS copies incredibly rare.

Once the news broke, netizens were understandably floored. Comments poured in like, "That price is absolutely insane!", "My family had this tape when I was a kid!", and "This is truly a legendary VHS!" Even better, despite its age, @AviationSagami confirmed the tape still plays perfectly, sparking major envy across the web.
