Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's Legendary Ride Comes to Life! Honda Announces "Honda Koraidon Project" for a Future Vehicle

Remember when we covered Toyota's ambitious project to bring the legendary Pokémon Miraidon from "Pokémon Scarlet and Violet" to life as an actual vehicle? Their "Toyota Miraidon Project" even showed off a full-scale Miraidon prototype.

Well, hold onto your Poké Balls, because today (Feb 27) it's Honda's turn! They've teamed up with The Pokémon Company to create a real-life, rideable Koraidon-themed future vehicle! Dubbed the "Honda Koraidon Project" (ホンダコライドンプロジェクト), this wild initiative will be showcased from March 7-9 at Honda Welcome Plaza Aoyama. They've even dropped a promo video!

Many players have dreamed of riding Koraidon as it effortlessly shifts between forms in "Pokémon Scarlet and Violet," thinking, "How cool would it be to actually ride one?!" Turns out, some Honda engineers shared that exact dream, and just like that, the "Honda Koraidon Project" was born!

Honda's Koraidon aims to perfectly replicate the in-game "Sprinting Build" (しっそうけいたい) – and yes, you can actually ride it! It's designed to be similar in weight and size to Koraidon in the game, and it even maintains "independent standing." To pull this off, Honda brought together expertise from its motorcycle, power products, and advanced technology research divisions. A team of 40 engineers poured years of motorcycle design concepts, simulation tech, and Honda's exclusive "Riding Assist balance control technology" (the same tech used in their self-balancing motorcycles) into this incredible creation.

Honda's project was actually inspired by Toyota's 2024 "Toyota Miraidon Project." Toyota famously said, "When adults get serious, children's dreams come true." Now, Honda wants to put their own spin on it, crafting a Koraidon that delivers that same fantastical in-game experience to the real world, but with a distinct Honda flair!

What will the final product look like? We'll have to wait for the exhibition to see the physical prototype and find out if Honda can truly innovate and surprise us!
