A recent photo of a Nintendo 3DS home screen has gone absolutely viral on X (formerly Twitter), sending players into a frenzy. The console in the picture displayed a shimmering, mysterious gold software, leading countless netizens to exclaim, "What in the world is that?!" and "That must be worth a fortune!"
The photo, shared by X user konaドー (@hao_konajin_67), showcased a unique gold software icon on their 3DS home menu. This elusive program is actually the registration proof for the "Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Program," an exclusive perk granted only to players who purchased their 3DS console before August 10, 2011.

Back in the day, Nintendo faced an uphill battle with the 3DS's initial sales, which weren't quite hitting the mark. To course-correct, they slashed the price significantly and offered a sweet deal to early adopters: 20 classic games for free! This included 10 NES titles and 10 Game Boy Advance games. These titles were exclusively available for download to "Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Program" members and were never officially sold to the general public, making them incredibly rare gems on the 3DS platform.

Since these GBA games were never available for purchase on the eShop, and Nintendo explicitly stated they "would not be sold separately on the 3DS platform," any 3DS console boasting "Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Program" eligibility has become a serious collector's item.
Upon seeing the "gold software," many netizens flooded the comments with nostalgic remarks like, "Ah, the good old days!" "That must be super expensive!" and "This is seriously rare, I want one!" Some players even speculated that the price of Ambassador-eligible 3DS consoles could skyrocket in the secondary market, turning them into a "dream find" for collectors.
