Japanese YouTuber Unboxes 10,000 Yen Nintendo Switch Mystery Bag, Scores Dragon Quest III and More!

A YouTuber recently hit the jackpot at a second-hand game store, snagging a 10,000 yen Nintendo Switch mystery bag and sharing the epic unboxing on their channel. What they found inside was seriously surprising, featuring not just a hot new release but also a beloved national RPG! Netizens are already green with envy.

The YouTuber behind "Hondamameo TV [Retro Game Channel]," known for their retro game deep dives and mystery bag unboxings, visited Super Potato Showamachi in Osaka. There, they picked up a 10,000 yen bag packed with three brand-new games, sparking major anticipation for what treasures lay within.

Kicking off the unboxing, the first game revealed was "Macross Shooting Insight." This side-scrolling shooter, part of the iconic Macross series, dropped in March 2024 and retailed for 3,100 yen.

Next up, the bag delivered a massive surprise: "Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake" (Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation)! This highly anticipated title, a stunning HD-2D reimagining of the classic RPG, is set to launch in November 2024 and goes for around 5,500 yen. Talk about a hot new release!

The final game in the haul was "Abyss of the Sacrifice" (Mitsushitsu no Sacrifice), a port of the trap-puzzle adventure game originally released in 2010. The Switch version hit shelves in December 2020 and costs 3,180 yen.

Crunching the numbers, the estimated online retail value of all three games came out to roughly 11,780 yen – a sweet deal compared to the mystery bag's price! Hondamameo couldn't hide their excitement, exclaiming, "The first and second games were great, but I absolutely never expected Dragon Quest III!" Unsurprisingly, the comments section was flooded with envious netizens, all agreeing that this unboxing was a total win.
