TANITA and SNK Team Up for a NEOGEO Arcade Thermometer Featuring Classic Game Sounds

Japanese health-focused brand TANITA may be celebrating its 80th anniversary, but this legacy company is staying fresh by collaborating with modern gaming and anime IPs. Following team-ups with titles like the mobile game and SNK's , TANITA has built a solid reputation among younger audiences.

On March 21, TANITA unveiled its latest project: a digital thermometer and hygrometer designed to look like the iconic 90s NEOGEO arcade cabinet. The project is set to launch on the crowdfunding platform "CAMPFIRE" on March 25, with a support tier of 11,900 JPY (tax & shipping included) to secure one of these nostalgic gadgets.

For the uninitiated, NEOGEO was SNK's powerhouse gaming platform from the 90s, available as both the MVS (Multi Video System) for arcades and the AES (Advanced Entertainment System) for home consoles. The MVS was a massive arcade hit thanks to its low cabinet cost, multiple cartridge slots, and compact size. The platform gave birth to legendary franchises like The King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown, Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, and Metal Slug.

New games were released on the platform all the way until 2004, making NEOGEO one of the longest-supported arcade systems in history.

This NEOGEO arcade cabinet thermometer/hygrometer is a miniaturized 1/7 scale replica of the original MVS cabinet. While it may be small, it faithfully recreates the joystick and buttons, which are fully functional for adjusting settings and navigating features, making it both a practical device and a must-have collectible.

Dimensions: 97mm (W) × 129mm (H) × 115mm (D)

The device comes loaded with sound effects from four classic SNK titles: The King of Fighters '95, Fatal Fury Special, Samurai Shodown II, and Metal Slug 3. Not only can you bask in the nostalgia, but you'll also get to hear a previously unreleased sound clip from Metal Slug 3 for the first time!

Built-in sounds include:
