We've previously covered how Japan's regions team up with Pokémon for unique marketing strategies. As a symbol of local collaboration, many areas have their own dedicated Regional Partner Pokémon, like Dragonite for Fukui Prefecture, Slowpoke for Kagawa Prefecture, and Geodude for Iwate Prefecture.
Now, the official Pokémon team has announced the "Pokémon Local Acts Product Exhibition" (ポケモンローカルActs物産展). This event aims to promote local specialties across various prefectures using their respective Regional Partner Pokémon, featuring local delicacies and exclusive merchandise. One particular item has already sent Japanese netizens into a frenzy: Iwate Prefecture's "Geodude" plushie! Why the hype? Because this plush actually comes with its iconic transparent "layered" feet, earning massive praise for the creators' attention to detail.

Geodude was appointed as Iwate Prefecture's Regional Partner Pokémon back in May 2019. Given the name "Iwate" (岩手, literally "rock hand"), Geodude makes for the perfect ambassador! Beyond the regional manhole cover project, many related events are held locally. And every time Geodude makes an appearance, it's always with those distinctive transparent "layered" feet, which have become its signature look.

This new Geodude plush isn't just sporting its transparent feet; it's also rocking an exclusive Iwate Prefecture Regional Partner Pokémon headband, making it a truly one-of-a-kind collectible!

Netizens are absolutely loving the transparent feet design, with many declaring it a must-buy to show their support!

Of course, the "Pokémon Local Acts Product Exhibition" isn't just about Geodude! There's a whole lineup of collaborative merchandise featuring other Regional Partner Pokémon, mostly combining local specialties that are usually only available for purchase in their respective regions. The exhibition kicks off in Miyagi Prefecture in April, then moves on to Fukui and Miyazaki Prefectures. For all the juicy details, head over to the official website!
