Since their initial clash in Tobey Maguire's "Spider-Man 3," Venom and Spider-Man, two iconic adversaries, haven't faced off on the big screen again. For years, fans have eagerly anticipated a dream crossover featuring the "Two British Toms" – Tom Hardy's Venom and Tom Holland's Spider-Man. Unfortunately, this highly anticipated reunion never materialized, even as Hardy's "Venom" trilogy concluded last year.

It wasn't just fans who harbored this dream; the studios did too. Hardy, currently promoting his new gangster series "Mobland", admitted during an interview on The Playlist's podcast "The Discourse" that Sony Pictures had indeed considered bringing him and Holland together, but it ultimately never came to fruition. "My kids ask me about it too, and I don't know how to answer," Hardy confessed. He acknowledged that a crossover film was discussed and came close to happening, but "unspoken differences" between Sony and Marvel Studios ultimately led to its abandonment.

Hardy expressed his strong desire to make a Venom and Spider-Man crossover film, partly because he believed it would be "great fun," and partly to please his children. He stated, "Essentially for me, it's all about the kids because, you know, adults like superhero movies, and the box office success proves that, but I think the kids are constantly reminding me how important these characters are, and they don't understand why their favorite characters aren't appearing together in movies."
