KOTAKE CREATE's horror escape game, "The Exit 8" (8番出口), became an instant hit with Japanese players when it launched on Steam in late November 2023. It even got a live-action movie adaptation starring Kazunari Ninomiya from Arashi.
Now, a Japanese X (formerly Twitter) user has taken creativity to a whole new level, transforming their cat's cardboard box into a perfect recreation of "The Exit 8" scene, complete with a giant black cat blocking the underground passage! The adorable and ingenious setup has captivated countless netizens, earning massive praise.
And no, this isn't a new game level or a movie teaser. This purr-fectly crafted scene is the brainchild of black cat owner Tignoah (@Teagle_Noir). They meticulously decorated the inside of a cardboard box in "The Exit 8" style and captured their feline friend chilling inside, racking up nearly 180,000 likes!
Turns out, the owner had previously shared photos of their black cat, Noir, snuggled in a cardboard box on X. Netizens immediately pointed out, "Doesn't that look just like 'The Exit 8'?" Inspired by the comments, Tignoah decided to bring the mini-scene to life.
"I just pasted floor and wall-like patterns inside the cardboard box; the whole thing took about an hour," the owner shared. But the results are absolutely stunning! A clever touch was cutting a hole in the top of the box to let light stream in, perfectly mimicking the dim-yet-lit ambiance of an underground passage. And the sign? Spot-on, making any "The Exit 8" player nod in approval.
Tignoah's other cat, Chatora, also loves to snuggle in, and the two furballs even playfully fight for the prime spot!
The post instantly went viral, racking up over 170,000 likes! Netizens flooded the comments, saying things like, "I don't want to escape this anomaly!" and "Please let me ride this subway!" Some players even declared they'd happily be sent back to the starting point if it meant experiencing this "black cat anomaly" firsthand.
As for the star of the show, Noir the black cat? They couldn't care less about the decorations, chilling out as usual. Along with their housemate, Chatora, they're happily playing, seemingly enjoying their newfound internet fame!
