For Gundam fans, the original "Mobile Suit Gundam" is, without a doubt, the ultimate classic. Episode 2 certainly delivered on that promise.
▼ Many shots are almost identical to the original, just with swapped characters and mobile suits – like Amuro becoming Char, and the original Gundam transforming into the White Gundam.
Even battle sequences were recreated shot-for-shot, with only the direction altered.
Even the iconic meeting between Char and Lalah Sune used nearly identical storyboards, just without Lalah by his side.
Fans are absolutely raving, crediting this incredible attention to detail to Hideaki Anno's involvement in the script. It's a full-on nostalgia bomb, bringing classic scenes back to life with a modern twist – something perhaps only he could pull off.
