Manga artist Reiji Miyajima's hit series "Rent-A-Girlfriend" has captivated fans with its unique character dynamics and plot twists, and after a two-year wait, its highly anticipated fourth anime season is finally dropping this July.
To hype up the manga, Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine recently tapped popular cosplayer and TikToker Akari Akase to embody the series' heroine, Chizuru Mizuhara, in a live-action short film centered around a "date."
Akari Akase first shot to fame through her cosplay work. A former high school volleyball star, she later ventured into gravure modeling for Weekly Playboy before making her debut as a singer. She previously performed the ending theme for "My Dress-Up Darling" and earned massive praise for her cosplay of the protagonist, Marin Kitagawa, garnering significant attention. 
The shoot took place entirely on location at Tokyo's Joypolis theme park, which also serves as a setting in the original manga. The video reimagines Chizuru and protagonist Kazuya's dynamic not as a "rental," but as a genuine first date, presented entirely from a "boyfriend's POV." This creates an incredibly immersive experience, making viewers feel like they're the ones on a date with Chizuru!
Akari Akase paid meticulous attention to Chizuru Mizuhara's hairstyle, carefully selecting the most accurate wig to perfectly capture the character's look and bring the manga's Chizuru to life.
