Nintendo just dropped a ton of fresh details for "Mario Kart World," the brand-new title hitting the next-gen Nintendo Switch 2, during its latest Nintendo Direct. Get ready for a complete overhaul of the gameplay structure!

The Direct kicked off by showcasing five brand-new tracks, each boasting unique visual styles and terrain designs. They're all about blending exploration with pure driving skill.

"Mario Kart World" is also shaking things up with items, adding a bunch of fun new power-ups. But the real game-changer is the new "Dash Food" system! Players can gobble down specific foods during a race to instantly transform into a themed outfit – think sushi for a cool Japanese vibe. Once unlocked, these snazzy looks can be freely selected from the character menu, adding a whole new layer of fun and personal flair to your races.

"Mario Kart World" is also packing a punch with several fresh techniques and mechanics. We're talking "Charged Jumps" for epic high jumps, wall jumps, and even rail jumps! Plus, there's a "Rewind" feature to undo those pesky mistakes, though other racers keep zooming ahead during the rewind, adding a thrilling layer of risk and strategic thinking.
The game also boasts a "Free Roam" mode, letting players cruise around the entire map at their leisure. You can hit P-switches to kick off missions, hunt for hidden goodies, and even enjoy online multiplayer and a photo mode for a true sandbox-style experience.
For multiplayer mayhem, you can dive into 4-player split-screen locally, or link up to four consoles for an 8-player local wireless showdown. Online, things get even crazier with up to 24 players battling it out! The game also keeps beloved assist features like "Smart Steering" and "Motion Controls" to help younger or newer players get into the action. Oh, and get ready for a slick new accessory: the "Joy-Con 2 Steering Wheel."
"Mario Kart World" is slated to launch globally on June 5, 2025, right alongside the Nintendo Switch 2. A special Switch 2 bundle will also be available, priced at NT$15,580, with the console itself retailing for NT$14,380.
Note: Financial figures and earnings forecasts should be confirmed through the company’s official announcements.
