Baldur's Gate 3 Publishing Director Champions Indie RPG "Clair Obscur: Expedition 33" Amidst "Oblivion Remastered" Hype

As "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered" dominates the Steam best-seller charts, an original RPG from French developer Sandfall Interactive, "Clair Obscur: Expedition 33," is also on the horizon but has been largely overshadowed by the wave of remasters.

In response, "Baldur's Gate 3" Publishing Director Michael Douse took to social media, urging players not to miss this promising title crafted by a team with "fewer developers than my age."

On X, Douse championed the game, highlighting its impressive 92 Metacritic score and emphasizing that if players wanted a truly excellent RPG featuring some of "Baldur's Gate 3"'s voice actors, they would only have to wait one day to experience it.

The voice actor he referred to is Jennifer English, who portrays Shadowheart in "Baldur's Gate 3." This time, she lends her voice to Maelle, one of the teenage adventurers and protagonists in "Clair Obscur: Expedition 33."

In an interview with GamesRadar+, English revealed that the voice acting experience was very natural, explaining that they didn't need to create exaggerated voices or alter themselves significantly, but rather interpret the characters with humanity. She also praised such works as "uncommon," highly commending the game's quality and sincerity.

Douse further remarked that the game came from such a small team, likening it to the disorienting feeling of discovering your pilot is younger than you, calling it "truly unbelievable." He emphasized that "Clair Obscur: Expedition 33" showcases the precise tone and creative spark that only small teams can capture.
