Nintendo Direct Narrator Yuichi Nakamura Loses Switch 2 Lottery, Declares Friendship Over with Winners — Even Masahiro Sakurai Isn't Safe!

Yesterday (April 24), Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa posted on the official Nintendo X account, apologizing that the first wave of Nintendo Switch 2 lotteries in Japan received an overwhelming number of entries, exceeding production capacity. However, today was still the day winners were announced in Japan, and X quickly became a mix of joy and despair.

Among the hopefuls was popular voice actor Yuichi Nakamura, the familiar narrator of "Nintendo Direct." After failing to win the lottery today, he unleashed a hilarious meltdown on his personal X account, declaring he'd cut ties with any friends who won. His post immediately drew a massive response from fellow voice actors and friends, quickly becoming a trending topic on X.

▼ Just look at Yuichi Nakamura trending at #2 on Japanese X – you know this was a big deal, LOL.

It seems even the voice of "Nintendo Direct" is subject to the same lottery fate as everyone else. As a non-winner in the first wave, all he could do was vent his frustration on X.

In the midst of his despair, Nakamura quickly followed up with another tweet, insisting that all his friends who won should be unfriended. It looks like this loss really hit him hard.

And of course, someone had to rub it in! Fellow voice actor Ayana Taketatsu replied, begging him not to unfriend her because she won. Nakamura immediately screenshotted it as "evidence" XD.

He even turned into a "winner hunter," spotting that voice actor friend Marika Kono had also won, directly retweeting her with a shocked, "Huh?!"

Even VTuber friend Fubuki Shirakami, who won, received a screenshot of Nakamura blocking her XD. (Fubuki Shirakami is famously a huge Yuichi Nakamura fan, so is this how you treat your biggest supporter, Yuichi?!)

Not even Masahiro Sakurai was spared... (Though as you can see, Sakurai also entered the lottery like everyone else, he just opted for the multi-language version.)

Naturally, there was also a "pity party" forming. Yohei Azakami was also among the losers, and Tomokazu Sugita even forgot to enter the lottery altogether, LOL.

Voice actor Natsuki Hanae also announced his loss, joining the ranks of the "Nakamura Squad" XD.

Even actor Yuki Yamada was a fellow lottery loser.

It's truly a mixed bag of emotions, and Nakamura Yuichi's epic meltdown over not winning really showed everyone the raw despair of the lottery losers XD. The good news is that all non-winners from this wave will automatically be entered into the second wave, no re-application needed.

Guess we'll have to wait and see if Yuichi Nakamura gets lucky in the second round!
