Hideo Kojima's Stealth Spy Game "Physint" Development Timeline Revealed — But Players Might Be Waiting Years?

Back in January 2025, Hideo Kojima revealed that his stealth-spy action game, codenamed "PHYSINT," had hit a snag due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, causing a temporary halt in development. However, in a recent interview with French magazine Le Film français, Kojima spilled the beans on the progress of this highly anticipated stealth title.

Beyond the upcoming "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach," Kojima also has the Xbox-exclusive horror game "OD" in the works, a collaboration with Hollywood director Jordan Peele. As for "Physint," he stated that the stealth game will require five to six years of development, targeting a mid-2030s release.

Word on the street is that this new project is a spiritual successor to the "Metal Gear Solid" series. Kojima reportedly drew inspiration from his own experience battling illness during the COVID-19 pandemic, a period that brought home the fragility of life and spurred him to create a truly iconic work.

"This will be my next game, and it will take five to six years to complete," Kojima stated. He also mentioned that while he still harbors dreams of directing films in the future, his current priority remains game development.

While Kojima is keeping the specifics of "Physint" under wraps, he did reveal it will be a cinematic experience, potentially even featuring live-action segments. Speculation suggests the game might adopt an interactive narrative style similar to "Quantum Break," possibly starring some big-name actors.

As many have guessed, "Physint" is highly likely to be a flagship title for the PlayStation 6's launch lineup. While the release is still a long way off, for players eager to see Kojima reach new heights, this fresh chapter in stealth adventure will undoubtedly be worth the wait.
