In recent years, Jason Momoa, who collaborated with Apple TV+ on the post-apocalyptic sci-fi series 'See' for three seasons, is again partnering with Apple TV+ to launch another costume epic drama 'Chief of War' based on true historical events. 'Chief of War' is set against the backdrop of the Hawaiian Islands in the 18th century, with Momoa portraying the indigenous warrior 'Kāiana'. The story will be told from his perspective, detailing the process of uniting the Hawaiian Islands. Kāiana becomes involved in a bloody and brutal movement, which he does in order to unify the warring kingdoms and protect them from the threat of colonization.
This series has enlisted Justin Chon, the Korean director of the Apple TV+ series 'Pachinko', to direct several episodes. The cast also includes Cliff Curtis and Temuera Morrison, who previously played father and son alongside Momoa in the 'Aquaman' series, and is set to premiere on August 1.
