Since concluding the "Jurassic World" trilogy and stepping away from directing "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker," filmmaker Colin Trevorrow has been actively developing original projects. As a screenwriter, he penned the undercover comedy "Deep Cover" and has been developing the adventure film "Atlantis" with Amblin Entertainment. Now, his focus shifts to Area 51.

Deadline reports that Trevorrow is teaming up with Paramount Pictures and Ryan Reynolds' production banner, Maximum Effort, to bring a new thriller to the big screen. Set in the late 1980s, the film will follow a local Las Vegas TV news reporter who becomes the first to expose the secrets of Area 51. William Wheeler and Tom Wheeler, two of the screenwriters behind "The Lego Ninjago Movie," penned the script and will also serve as executive producers.
