Konami Officially Announces Silent Hill 1 Remake, Fueled by Silent Hill 2's Success

During a recent "KONAMI PRESS" announcement, Konami officially pulled back the curtain on a collaboration with Bloober Team to develop a remake of "Silent Hill." This confirms that the iconic survival horror classic, which first terrified players on the original PlayStation back in 1999, is set to return with a fresh new look.

The announcement itself was brief but packed a punch, featuring the Konami and Bloober Team logos alongside the classic "Silent Hill" title and the words "In Development." A subsequent official statement confirmed: "We are working with Bloober Team on a remake of 'Silent Hill'."

While both companies had hinted at a new partnership earlier this year, it was never confirmed to be tied to the "Silent Hill" franchise. This official reveal undoubtedly comes as a massive surprise and a huge win for series fans.

Bloober Team revealed that this new collaboration builds directly on the runaway success of the "Silent Hill 2" remake. After its launch in October 2024, "Silent Hill 2" garnered widespread critical acclaim, boasting impressive Metacritic scores of 87 for the PC version and 86 for the PS5. In their press release, Bloober Team stated, "The success of 'Silent Hill 2' established mutual trust, leading to the signing of this new project."

The studio also shared that this partnership will help expand its internal development capabilities and strengthen its position within the first-party development structure. While specific game details remain under wraps for now, it's confirmed that the project will be developed based on Konami's original intellectual property, with Konami retaining its role as publisher and copyright holder.

Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Team, commented, "Our collaboration with Konami has been incredibly fruitful, and the success of 'Silent Hill 2' is clear proof of our shared commitment to quality. We can't reveal too much at this stage, but we believe players will be just as excited as we are about this collaboration."

As Konami continues to bring the "Silent Hill" series back into the spotlight, the big question remains: can this remake successfully rekindle the original's eerie atmosphere and psychological horror? It's certainly shaping up to be one of the most anticipated developments in the gaming world this year.
