Beyond global TCG titans like Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: The Gathering, and Pokémon, more and more IPs are diving into the card game arena. Recently, we've seen big names like One Piece, Detective Conan, and Ultraman all making moves in this space.
Now, the wildly popular sports anime and manga, Haikyuu!!, is set to launch its own collectible card game: "Haikyuu!! BaboCa!! BREAK"! Get ready to hit the court on October 25, 2025, with a brand-new booster pack and two starter decks dropping simultaneously!

Die-hard fans might remember that "Haikyuu!!" actually had a physical card game called "BaboCa!!" from 2014 to 2017. However, for various reasons, "BaboCa!!" ceased production after its final card set was released in 2017. This was a huge blow to fans who loved playing the game or collecting the cards, with many still hunting for rare finds at high prices on the secondary market.

But now, after a seven-year hiatus, the wait is finally over! Takara Tomy is bringing us the all-new "BaboCa!! BREAK"! This fresh series builds on the original "BaboCa!!" charm, letting players recreate thrilling volleyball matches through card play, but with even more fan-favorite elements. Expect cards featuring iconic scenes from the original manga and brand-new illustrations personally drawn by none other than creator Haruichi Furudate!

Mark your calendars! October 25, 2025, will see the simultaneous release of:
The "Haikyuu!! BaboCa!! BREAK: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump Booster Pack (HV-P01)"
The "Karasuno High School Starter Deck (HV-D01)"
The "Nekoma High School Starter Deck (HV-D02)"

According to the official rules:
Each player builds a 40-card deck, featuring Character Cards and Event Cards (with a maximum of 8 Event Cards). You can even mix and match characters from different schools to create your ultimate dream team!
The gameplay mirrors a real volleyball match, starting with a serve and then alternating turns placing Character Cards in the "Receive Area," "Set Area," and "Spike Area" to execute your offense and defense. It's just like playing actual volleyball, scrambling to save the ball, setting it up, and going for the kill!
The first player to win three sets takes the match, letting players truly experience the "never give up on a single point" spirit of "Haikyuu!!"

The official team has also announced plans to hold events at card shops across Japan to guide players and help them get familiar with the game.
This marks "Haikyuu!!"'s long-awaited return to the card game scene, a complete fresh start. Will this new iteration draw in even more fans? We'll have to wait and see how the official launch plays out, but it wouldn't be surprising to see fans scrambling to get their hands on these cards!
