The sequel will once again be directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna, both returning from the original film. Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci are also confirmed to reprise their starring roles.

Reportedly, the sequel's plot will center on Miranda and Emily (played by Blunt). Miranda's career is in decline, facing the crisis of the traditional publishing industry's downfall. She will be forced to seek help from her former employee, Emily, who is now a high-ranking executive at a luxury brand. Miranda desperately needs the company's advertising funds. The sequel is slated for a May 1, 2026 release.
