DC Comics has announced "DC K.O.," a massive new crossover event launching in October 2025 that pits its heroes and villains in a cosmic, "Mortal Kombat"-style deathmatch tournament.

The story is being crafted by the powerhouse team of Scott Snyder ("Batman") and Joshua Williamson ("Superman"). This major initiative follows last year's "DC All In" and once again gathers heroes to fight for the fate of the universe.
The event is structured as a single-elimination tournament featuring 36 heroes and villains, with the sole survivor accumulating enough "Omega Energy" to challenge the final boss: an evolved Darkseid. Snyder described the contest as a "knock-down, drag-out fight," while Williamson revealed, "Darkseid has destroyed the future. The only hope for the DC Universe is to stop him now."

Unlike past events, the core of "DC K.O." will revolve around Superman. "“Dark Nights: Metal” was a Batman story, “Dark Nights: Death Metal” was a Wonder Woman story, and “DC K.O.” is a Superman story—it’s about him confronting his own inner darkness," Snyder explained. Williamson added that "DC K.O." will offer a more personal look at the Man of Steel's beliefs and choices as he faces this cosmic crisis.
The main series will be a five-issue run with art by Javi Fernández. A prelude, "Justice League: The Omega Act" #1, will kick things off on October 1, 2025, with the main event, "DC K.O." #1, launching on October 8. Williamson is also set to write several tie-in issues that will connect with ongoing series like "Justice League Unlimited" and "Titans."

DC has stated that the roster of competitors will be full of surprises, and the question of who will survive—and who will be eliminated—is guaranteed to spark intense fan debate. As convention season approaches, "DC K.O." is poised to become the most talked-about event in the DC Universe this fall.
