Marvel Studios' upcoming "Blade" reboot has faced numerous setbacks, leading to growing concern among fans and industry insiders about the film's troubled production.
Recently, David S. Goyer, the screenwriter behind the original "Blade" trilogy, confirmed in an interview that he had proactively contacted Marvel, offering his assistance with the reboot of the Daywalker's story, but his offer was ultimately declined.

While promoting the final season of Netflix's "The Sandman" recently, Goyer told ComicBook.com that he was content with his work on the "Blade" trilogy and had no initial intention of returning. However, Marvel's prolonged struggle to advance the new version starring Mahershala Ali left him curious and puzzled.
"I don't understand why they're having so many issues," Goyer admitted. "They've got Mahershala Ali, who was born to play that role. I really don't understand what they're waiting for."
Goyer revealed he initially had no plans to get involved. But after repeatedly being asked by journalists and industry friends, "Why don't you help them out?" he decided to have his agent reach out to Marvel to see if they needed assistance.
"I had my agent call Marvel, that was about six months ago," Goyer said. "Their response was, 'No, thank you, we're on the right track now.'"

While Goyer was unable to rejoin the "Blade" project, he remains open to the new iteration, stating, "I like different versions of characters. I wrote 'Man of Steel,' but I also like the new Superman. I like Robert Pattinson's Batman. I can appreciate different interpretations."
Goyer not only penned the "Blade" trilogy starring Wesley Snipes but also directed "Blade: Trinity." He also confirmed that there were plans at the time for a spin-off, "Nightstalkers," which intended to introduce dark elements like Morbius and the Darkhold.
Though these concepts ultimately didn't materialize, he still holds a passion for these characters, stating, "I'm a comic book fan, and it's fun to play with those darker characters."
