While the sequel series, "The Prince of Tennis II," is often jokingly dubbed "superpower tennis" by fans, this iconic sports manga remains a beloved classic, with events and merchandise still selling like hotcakes.
But here's a curveball no one saw coming: at "The Prince of Tennis Musical: The Fifth Stage" (affectionately known as Tenimyu), which kicked off on October 3rd at Kanadevia Hall, veteran actress Norika Fujiwara made a surprise appearance via special video! She's stepping into the role of Eiko Atobe, mother to the wildly popular character Keigo Atobe, sending fans and netizens into a frenzy.
The 54-year-old Norika Fujiwara, with over three decades in the industry spanning modeling and acting, unexpectedly joined the cast of "The Prince of Tennis" musical.
Fujiwara excitedly shared, "I was genuinely surprised and thrilled to be offered the role of Keigo Atobe's mother. After all, she's a 'former spy' who keeps a 'tiger' as a pet – she's truly an extraordinary woman (laughs)!"
Eiko Atobe first appeared in the September 2023 issue of "Jump Square" in a new "The Prince of Tennis II" chapter. The never-before-seen "Atobe Mom" immediately grabbed fan attention. Despite being 45, Eiko Atobe debuted with short hair, elegant attire, and even rappelled from a helicopter! Talk about style... definitely a mother befitting Hyotei's aristocratic flair!
