Well, a father-son artist duo from New Zealand, "Taka & Haru," did just that, creating a mind-blowing Rubik's Cube masterpiece featuring "Tanjiro," the protagonist from "Demon Slayer"! Their finished work has left netizens stunned, with the reveal video going viral on TikTok.
Based in New Zealand, the artistic father-son duo "Taka & Haru" (@hcubenz) regularly share their creations on social media and even perform live art installations at various events.
Instead of brushes and paint, they craft their art using the familiar Rubik's Cube. For their latest challenge, they tackled "Tanjiro Kamado," the hero of "Demon Slayer," meticulously arranging colored squares to form his determined face.
The duo started by preparing over 400 Rubik's Cubes, carefully twisting each one to its designated color before painstakingly arranging them one by one into a large wooden frame.
As the Rubik's Cubes stacked up layer by layer, a massive pixel art portrait slowly emerged – Tanjiro's intense expression. Despite using only the six colors of the Rubik's Cube, the three-dimensional and lifelike effect is absolutely astonishing!
It's not just incredibly creative; the precision required to control each colored square's position demands exceptional spatial awareness and skill. This piece is truly a "masterpiece of mind and hand."
The Tanjiro artwork took approximately 10 hours from design to completion – 4 hours for the design draft and 6 hours for twisting the cubes. When asked about their inspiration, they shared that about two years ago, after getting into "speedcubing," they stumbled upon a French artist on Instagram who had created a "Mona Lisa" using Rubik's Cubes. "We were absolutely blown away! We never imagined Rubik's Cubes could be used to create something like that! So, we decided to give it a try ourselves."
