But hold onto your seats, because his final, brand-new masterpiece is officially set to drop on November 28, 2025.
Dubbed the "ZOKU-SHINGO COMPLETE BOX," this epic two-volume set pairs "ZOKU-SHINGO: The Little Robot, Shingo Museum" – Umezz-sensei's first new creation in 27 years and his ultimate swan song – with "I Am Shingo: Complete Frontispiece Collection," which compiles every single frontispiece illustration from "ZOKU-SHINGO."
This monumental publishing project is a tribute to Umezz-sensei's 90th birthday in 2026, a commemorative plan he personally envisioned before his passing.
"ZOKU-SHINGO: The Little Robot, Shingo Museum" is a treasure trove, featuring all 101 stunning color paintings previously showcased at the "Kazuo Umezz Grand Art Exhibition," plus an additional 101 powerful new line art sketches, making this the definitive edition. Every page has been meticulously compared to the original manuscripts, faithfully reproducing the paper's texture and the intricate layers of color.
Meanwhile, "I Am Shingo: Complete Frontispiece Collection" unearths three never-before-seen original manuscripts, presented in both four-color and two-color print versions, all precisely replicated from the originals.
These two oversized A4 volumes are printed to perfectly capture Umezz-sensei's unwavering dedication, soul, and meticulous attention to detail. The set will retail for 9,000 yen.
And there's more! The 53rd Angoulême International Comics Festival in France is set to host a retrospective exhibition titled "Kazuo Umezz – Driving Away Fear," showcasing around 170 original artworks. Umezz-sensei received the festival's prestigious "Heritage Award" in 2018, an honor that actually spurred his return to manga creation after that 27-year hiatus, leading to "ZOKU-SHINGO."
This profoundly significant exhibition will run from January 29 to March 15, 2026, at the Angoulême Museum. It marks his first original art exhibition in 30 years, and his very first showcase outside of Japan!
