The wildly popular Gundam series, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and with its enduring popularity, plenty of events are rolling out.
But get this: DMM GAMES' bishojo mobile game Legeclo! recently unveiled a new character, "Bael," on its official X (formerly Twitter) account. While she was supposed to be the main attraction for fans, the comment section got completely hijacked by discussions about "Gundam Bael" from Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. Gundam totally stole the show!
In Legeclo!, "Bael" is depicted as a super-sexy, scantily clad blonde bombshell with blue eyes. Her name, of course, comes from the 72 demons of Solomon.
However, this naming convention directly mirrors the mobile suits in Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. And "Gundam Bael" from that series is, well... a massively popular, super cool, dominant, dual-wielding mobile suit of Gjallarhorn. Its iconic entrance scene even became a huge meme, skyrocketing its fame.
Especially the character's pose: arms spread, palms up, as if declaring "the king has arrived." This is a direct callback to the famous scene where Gundam Bael's pilot, McGillis Fareed, declares, "Gather around Bael!" The meme is so strong that any Gundam fan seeing that pose will instantly hear the line playing in their head.
Unsurprisingly, the comments section was absolutely swamped by Gundam fans! The official post was flooded with replies like: "Bael! The soul of Agnika Kaieru!" "The truth of Gjallarhorn is right here!" "So much McGillis, LOL," and "Everyone's talking about Gundam, I'm dying laughing." It basically turned into an impromptu Gundam fan meetup.
Oh, and by the way, another new character also got caught in the crossfire! Legeclo! simultaneously revealed a character named "Barbatos," which, of course, shares its name with Gundam Barbatos. Thanks to the "Bael" uproar, she got dragged into it too, with the comments section once again being all about Gundam, LOL.
The comments were also full of Iron-Blooded Orphans-related images, with some fans even Photoshopping them directly, haha!
It looks like Iron-Blooded Orphans fans are having an absolute blast with this one! If the game keeps rolling out more demon-named characters, it seems like the fun is just getting started, LOL.
