Disney Pictures' highly anticipated animated sequel, "Zootopia 2," made its grand debut in theaters worldwide this weekend, immediately posting impressive box office numbers. While the weekend isn't over yet, "Zootopia 2" has already secured a new record: it's the first Hollywood film in history to gross over $100 million on its opening day in China. No previous American film has ever achieved such a staggering feat, with the movie's earning power far exceeding expectations.

Before "Zootopia 2" set this new benchmark, the highest-grossing Hollywood film on its opening day in China was "Avengers: Endgame", another title from the Disney family. When "Endgame" premiered in 2019, it raked in an impressive $97.5 million on its first day in China. While that was an incredibly strong debut, six years later, it has been surpassed by another blockbuster sequel from its own studio.
