The iconic Tokusatsu series "Super Sentai" is officially wrapping up its nearly half-century run of heroic legends after "First Sentai Gojūger" concludes. But don't fret! The official announcement also revealed a brand-new Tokusatsu series project, "PROJECT R.E.D.", and its first installment? None other than "Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity"!
Yesterday (Dec 7), officials dropped a bombshell, announcing that renowned Tokusatsu suit actor and action director Hirofumi Fukuzawa will helm the "pilot episode" as director. The news sent shockwaves through the Tokusatsu fandom!
For "Super Sentai" fans, Hirofumi Fukuzawa is a household name. He's the legendary suit actor behind countless Red Rangers and has since made a name for himself as an action and film director.
Now, he's officially confirmed as the pilot director for "Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity"! While it's not yet confirmed if he'll be the regular series director, a captivating pilot episode could certainly ignite even more excitement for the Space Sheriff reboot.
The announcement also revealed that Reito Kuji, known for producing "Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger", will serve as producer. This collaboration is definitely something to look forward to!
Toei's long-standing producer, Shinichirō Shirakura, also stated his hope that fans eagerly awaiting hero works will witness a completely fresh production approach with "PROJECT R.E.D.". He added that different works within the project will link up, forming an even grander shared universe.
It's also confirmed that "Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity" will take the original "Space Sheriff Gavan" as its starting point, but with a completely rebuilt world, essentially a "new Gavan from scratch." Utilizing cutting-edge visual technology, the 2026 version is set to make a grand reappearance, once again pushing the visual boundaries for Tokusatsu fans.
