Leon Confirmed to Return in Resident Evil 9: Requiem; TGA 2025 Trailer Reveals Mature Look and Dual-Protagonist Gameplay

Capcom just dropped a bombshell at The Game Awards 2025, officially announcing the return of fan-favorite Leon S. Kennedy in the latest installment, "Resident Evil Requiem." The game's trailer showed Leon rolling up in a police car, sporting some subtle stubble and a more mature look that immediately set a different vibe for fans.

The official game description also got an update, highlighting a dual-protagonist narrative. Players will dive into a survival horror experience from the perspective of FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft, getting up close and personal with the terror. But you'll also get to take control of legendary agent Leon for faster-paced, action-packed missions. Both characters' paths will intertwine throughout the story, weaving a core narrative packed with tension and emotional punch.

This massive reveal actually got leaked a few days prior when some PS5 players who pre-ordered the game accidentally spotted the game icon during the preload screen. Leon's side profile was clearly visible in the background, turning the return rumors into a premature reality. The preload page also spilled the beans that downloads would open on February 25, 2026, just two days before the official launch.

"Resident Evil Requiem" is slated to launch on February 27, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC, marking it as the ninth mainline entry in the series.
