Capcom just dropped a fresh trailer for Resident Evil Requiem, and it's sent the fandom into an absolute frenzy! Screenshots from the new footage clearly show fan-favorite Leon S. Kennedy sporting a dark, bloody, and seriously mysterious scar on his neck. Naturally, players are now freaking out, wondering if this iconic protagonist is about to face a tragic end.

Leon's appearance in the game first leaked via concept art, then officially debuted in a trailer at The Game Awards 2025, confirming the long-standing rumors. But as fans rewatched the trailer frame by frame, that neck scar became the ultimate talking point. Add in producer Koushi Nakanishi's cryptic hint that Leon is hiding a "major secret," and the speculation has gone absolutely wild.
Some players are guessing it's a zombie bite or a brand-new infection, but others are quick to point out that Capcom probably wouldn't pull the infection card again, especially since Leon already dealt with the Las Plagas parasite in Resident Evil 4.

Another camp of fans suggests it could symbolize a continuation of an older infection, tying back to one of the series' most beloved chapters. And, of course, there are always the jokers, who think it's just an Easter egg from past games or even a cheeky nod related to Ada.
With Capcom teasing that Requiem will bring a significant conclusion to the series' storyline, all eyes are on Leon as the franchise approaches its 30th anniversary. Will he be the character to usher in a new era? The game is set to launch on February 27, 2026.
