The "Mamma Mia!" musical film series, which has grossed over $1 billion worldwide, has always held one major plot mystery: Who is the real father of Amanda Seyfried's character, Sophie? Is it Colin Firth's Harry, Stellan Skarsgård's Bill, or Pierce Brosnan's Sam? The franchise has yet to provide a definitive answer.

However, with a third installment now officially in development, the true identity of Sophie's father appears set for a reveal. Brosnan, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter (THR), directly teased that the long-standing mystery is finally going to be unveiled: “I think you’ll have to wait for the next movie to find out,” Brosnan stated. “I’ll just leave it at that. I know who the real father is, but I’m not going to be the one to spoil the surprise.” It seems fans will need to exercise a bit more patience until the third film arrives.
