This Custom Clear MG ν Gundam Ver.Ka Shines with Ethereal Blue, Capturing the "Psycho-Frame Engulfment" Look!

If you're into Gunpla, you've probably dabbled in all sorts of customization techniques. Whether it's painting, cutting, or weathering, these methods are fantastic ways to make your models truly unique and even blend in new elements for fresh, creative builds.

Recently, Japanese Gunpla builder Nobukofu (@nobukofu0096) blew minds on X with his custom-painted "MG 1/100 ν Gundam Ver.Ka [Mechanical Clear]" model. He took the already transparent kit and elevated it to a whole new level, showcasing a stunning concept: the mobile suit "completely engulfed by its Psycho-Frame." The dazzling, glowing effect has earned widespread praise from netizens.

For this incredible build, Nobukofu used the GUNDAM BASE exclusive item, the "MG 1/100 ν Gundam Ver.Ka [Mechanical Clear]," as his base.

▼ Here's how the unpainted kit looks when assembled.

Nobukofu's goal was to create a model that "glows even without needing a dark room." He achieved this by applying thick coats of enamel fluorescent paint along the edges of the clear parts and all exterior armor pieces. Thanks to this light-gathering effect, the model emits a vibrant blue glow even under normal lighting. While it might be subtle in photos, he also added glitter to the paint, which creates a fantastic sparkling accent when hit by light.

The finished piece looks absolutely phenomenal against a black background. Not only are the internal mechanics still clearly visible, but the transparent outer armor seems to radiate a brilliant blue light, perfectly capturing his vision of the "ν Gundam completely engulfed by the Psycho-Frame."

This effect is a direct homage to the iconic scene in the theatrical anime film "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack," where Amuro pushes Axis. Nobukofu aimed to recreate that miraculous, shimmering glow when the Psycho-Frame resonates at its peak.

And of course, the shots taken with supplementary lighting really make the glow pop! It looks like pure electrical energy coursing through the mobile suit's internal frame. Nobukofu also utilized darker, bluer lighting settings and intentionally extended the shutter speed to minimize reflections on the clear parts, resulting in an even cleaner overall look.

Nobukofu has tackled many other impressive Gunpla projects, so if you're a fan, be sure to follow him on X to check out more of his amazing work!
