This Mom's Beargguy Model Kit Gets a Stunning Traditional Lacquerware Makeover, Netizens Call Her a Master Artisan!

If you're into Gunpla, you've probably dabbled in all sorts of customization – painting, cutting, weathering, you name it. It's all about making your kits unique and even blending in other elements for fresh, creative twists.

Recently on X (formerly Twitter) in Japan, user Namio (@wavemomchan) shared their mom's custom-painted Beargguy model kit, and it absolutely blew up! The finished piece looks less like a Gunpla and more like a stunning traditional craft. Seriously, you wouldn't guess it was a Gundam model. The post sparked a flood of praise, with netizens calling it "beautiful," "super dignified," and hailing her as a true artisan.

The original kit was the "HG 1/144 Beargguy III," a popular bear-shaped modification of the Zeon mobile suit "Acguy" that appeared in the anime "Gundam Build Fighters," which centers around Gunpla battles.

Namio's mom took a model based on a teddy bear head combined with an Acguy mobile suit body and gave it a full "lacquerware style" finish. It's a complete transformation, making it look like a genuine Japanese lacquer art piece. She even cleverly named it "Be-Wagguai San" (a Japanese-style pun on Beargguy III).

The lacquerware finish is so smooth it shines, and the gold accents look incredibly premium, like something from a high-end craft store. Look closely, and you'll even spot subtle gradients in the patterns, giving it the delicate feel of "raden" (mother-of-pearl inlay work). The whole piece just oozes opulent Japanese style.

Even Namio couldn't help but exclaim, "Looks pretty convincing, right? But it really is Gunpla..." Honestly, if they hadn't said anything, you'd never know.

Netizens went wild in the comments: "Such intricate painting... wait, is that Gunpla?!" "This is legit traditional craftsmanship now," "So dignified! Mom's skills are seriously next level," and "Absolutely gorgeous! Imagine the satisfaction of creating something like this."

All we can say is, this mom's artistry is off the charts! It just goes to show that no matter your age, if you're willing to try and have the talent, you can create truly astonishing Gunpla customs!
