Mika Yamamori's hit manga "In the Clear Moonlight Dusk," which also got an anime adaptation this season, is officially getting the live-action movie treatment! Heartthrob Shunsuke Michieda and rising star Seira Anzai are set to co-star, both expressing their honor as long-time fans of the original work. A stunning teaser visual has dropped, with the film slated for a Fall 2026 release.

"In the Clear Moonlight Dusk" first debuted in Kodansha's monthly magazine "Dessert" in 2020, with 10 volumes published to date. Its TV anime series premiered in January 2026.
The story follows first-year high schooler Yoi Takiguchi, nicknamed "Prince" by her classmates for her cool, handsome looks. Despite her princely exterior, Yoi secretly yearns for a romantic, girly love life. One day, she crosses paths with Kohaku Ichimura, another "Prince" of the school, who treats her like a princess. Initially dismissing him as just another handsome but frivolous guy, Yoi gradually discovers Kohaku's true charm, and their relationship begins to blossom.

Stepping into the shoes of the impeccably handsome "School's Number One Prince," Kohaku Ichimura, is none other than Shunsuke Michieda from the idol group Naniwa Danshi. Michieda's previous starring role in "Even If This Love Disappears From the World Tonight" raked in over 1.53 billion yen at the box office, and his latest film, "The Last Song You Left," hit theaters this March. Riding high on this wave of success, he's now set to conquer the big screen once more in his second solo lead role.
To perfectly embody the character, Michieda dyed his hair platinum blonde. He shared his excitement about joining the cast, revealing he's been a fan of the manga for ages. He describes Kohaku as a character with charming contradictions – appearing like a smooth romantic, but actually being incredibly pure-hearted and a bit stubborn. Michieda hopes audiences will swoon as they watch the duo navigate their misunderstandings and growing feelings.

Taking on the role of protagonist Yoi Takiguchi is Seira Anzai, marking her debut as a lead in a romance film. Anzai, known for her mature yet cool demeanor, will portray Yoi's adorable awkwardness as she experiences love for the first time. This also marks her first collaboration with Shunsuke Michieda.
Anzai confessed she's a huge fan, always rushing to buy new volumes the moment they drop. She admitted feeling both honored and incredibly pressured when offered the role. She's poured her efforts into capturing Yoi's innocent first love and her "princely" aura, hoping the film leaves a lasting impression on everyone.

The director's chair is filled by Kentaro Takemura, known for his delicate touch and previous work on manga-to-live-action adaptations like "Exchange Lie Diary." The screenplay is penned by Yuichi Tokunaga, whose impressive credits include the "Kaguya-sama: Love Is War" series, the "Cells at Work!" movie, and the Japan Academy Film Prize-winning script for "Fly Me to the Saitama." With such a stellar cast and production team, this film is shaping up to be a blockbuster!
While only the two lead actors have been announced so far, the manga's immense popularity and its ongoing anime adaptation this season have fans buzzing. We're all eager to see if this live-action version can deliver a fresh and exciting take!
