When you talk about the "Dragon Quest" series, the most iconic monster has to be the Slime. Among them, a special variant known as the "Metal Slime" is particularly famous. In-game, defeating one grants a massive amount of experience points, making it a rare and valuable monster despite its seemingly weak appearance. On February 24th, Japanese energy drink giant ZONe ENERGY teamed up with the Dragon Quest VII collaboration to release a limited-edition "HYPER ZONe ENERGY Metal Slime Energy" can, featuring the distinctive Metal Slime design. Inspired by its color and shape, one creative netizen had a brilliant idea: transforming the can into an "actual" Metal Slime!
The creator, KAISEI (@yamarinPD), took this limited-edition can, meticulously cut it into strips, and then reassembled them to form the classic "Metal Slime" shape. Since the can already boasted that metallic sheen, and the eyes and mouth were conveniently part of the original design, a simple application was all it took to complete the look. The result is uncannily similar to its in-game counterpart! Though, given the can's aluminum material, perhaps "Aluminum Slime" would be a more accurate name.
After KAISEI shared their creation on X (formerly Twitter), it quickly garnered widespread praise from netizens. Comments poured in, hailing the creator as a "genius," marveling at their "incredible skill," and declaring it the "ultimate real-life Metal Slime." Naturally, some couldn't resist joking that this particular Metal Slime might be weak to fire, or quipping about earning EXP if they "defeated" it. The creator themselves noted that the angular design of their Metal Slime felt like something straight out of an old-school 3D game, built with polygons. And honestly, looking closely, it totally does look polygonal!
