"Hathaway's Flash - Circe's Witch" Blasts Past ¥2.5 Billion at Box Office, Surpassing First Film to Become Gundam's Third Highest-Grossing Ever!

"Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash - Circe's Witch" hit Japanese theaters in late January, earning rave reviews from fans. The film also premiered in Taiwan in March, screening alongside its predecessor.

Today (3/19), official figures revealed the film's latest box office triumph: in just 48 days, it has raked in a staggering ¥2,502,648,920, with over 1,489,165 admissions. This impressive haul has already surpassed the first "Hathaway's Flash" film, which earned approximately ¥2.23 billion in 2021, marking a truly stellar performance.

Kicking off its run on January 30th across 431 screens in Japan, including IMAX, the film pulled in a massive ¥840 million and 510,000 admissions in its opening three days. After 48 days, its cumulative box office now stands at ¥2,502,648,920, with over 1,489,165 viewers. What's more, this already tops the ¥2.23 billion earned by the first "Hathaway's Flash" film in 2021—an outstanding achievement for a sequel!

As a side note, the reigning champion for the highest-grossing "Gundam" movie remains "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM," which premiered in January 2024 and has smashed past ¥5 billion. The second spot is held by "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-" with ¥3.5 billion. "Circe's Witch" might just be gunning for that second-place spot!

With the box office numbers still climbing, the future of the "Hathaway's Flash" series is definitely one to watch. Will it set new records? And what about a potential third film? Fans are eagerly waiting to see what comes next!
