The iconic anime series Patlabor, originally created by the five-person unit HEADGEAR, is making a comeback this year with a new three-chapter, eight-episode anime titled "Mobile Police PATLABOR EZY." The first chapter, "File 1," is set to hit Japanese theaters on May 15, 2026.
And that's not all! Today, the official announcement dropped for a brand-new 3D action game, "PATLABOR the Case Files." A special teaser trailer has just been released, and the game is slated for launch on Steam and PlayStation 5. No release date has been revealed yet, so stay tuned!
"PATLABOR the Case Files" is all about letting players "personally experience iconic scenes." You can tackle main missions from the perspective of Special Vehicles Section 2 (SV2) or from the opposing forces. Plus, there are "Another Perspective Missions" to dive into stories from different viewpoints. The game is being developed by Chime Corporation, known for "Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness," and will be published by GOOD SMILE COMPANY.
And the Labors? They're bringing the heat! Expect over 20 different units to appear, including fan favorites like Ingram, Griffin, and Type-Zero! There's also a simulation mode for target practice or head-to-head battles, offering a pretty diverse gameplay experience.
