DreamWorks Animation's long-awaited sequel, "Shrek 5," saw its first trailer released last February. While originally slated for a December 23rd release this year, distributor Universal Pictures later pushed the film's premiere to June 30th of next year, meaning fans will have to wait over half a year longer to see the fifth installment. However, just as many assumed the delay was due to production falling behind schedule for a year-end release, Universal and DreamWorks have reportedly already set their sights on the next chapter.

Comedian Dana Carvey, who co-starred with "Shrek" voice actor Mike Myers in the hit comedy franchise "Wayne's World," recently revealed on his podcast, "Fly on the Wall with Dana Carvey and David Spade," that DreamWorks is already developing "Shrek 6."

Carvey mentioned on the show that Myers had told him, "We're going to have two more 'Shrek' movies." Myers was likely referring to both the fifth and sixth installments. Carvey did not elaborate on when "Shrek 6" might be released or what its plot would entail, suggesting Myers may not have shared those details, leaving fans to await further official announcements.
